A Few Favorites

This little lady is at such a fun stage.  She understands just about everything, can say a few words and tries to say words that we tell her to.  She folds her arms when we say a prayer, and her primary form of transportation is wobbling around walking.  Except when we're outside.  She won't walk.  We have to hold her.  Weird.  She's obsessed with babies, the swings, dogs, and Cason.  She doesn't much care for me when he's around. :)  And she's also obsessed with, her newest favorite thing, going down the slide.  I lifted her up and down, up and down on that slide and my arms were sore the next day.

She also knows most of her body parts.
It's my favorite!
Here's a video of her showing a few.
I have about 50 videos but she'll never do them all for me on camera.
She knows what I'm doing I guess.
So here's a little glimpse of what she can do.

Naptime Spying

When Millie went down for her second nap today, (yes, she is still taking two.  I'm too nervous to switch to one) she didn't fall right to sleep.  Instead, she stood in her crib and dilly dallied.  No crying.  Whining.  Or fussing.  Just a few chatty words here and there and that was it.  I went to peek on her through the crack in the door and this is what I saw:

Finally, after a few minutes and a quick diaper change, she was out.

I love watching her.  She is just precious.

Queen of the House

This little lady thinks she owns the place!
She throws pillows off the couch, and climbs all over it.

She also thinks that every single cupboard and drawer is okay to get into.  No matter how many times I tell her, or say no no no, or take her away from it, she still goes back and snoops through everything.  My house is pretty much a disaster most of the time.  I can't stop her!  Once I do, she's onto the next thing.

She can also be a very good helper.  She's obsessed with the dishwasher.  Every time we empty it, she takes out the dishes and hands them to us.  I can't wait till she can empty the dishwasher on her own. That's the one and only reason I want her to grow.  :)

She thinks everything is hers, which she has every right to think, since she is the only child for now.

She can own the place.  Cason and I don't mind.  And it's quite entertaining when she's not making a mess!

Love this girl!

Saturday Beach

I know, beach pictures are pretty much the same, but I had to document our last full Saturday of summer.
Kinda weird, but here in our town, EVERYTHING shuts down the day after Labor Day.
They know best though, because it does start to get chilly.
(Good thing our local ice cream shop is still open till October.
And the Farmer's Market too!  Gotta love those honeycrisps...new post at a later date!)

We ventured down to the beach for our last beach day before it gets cold.
Hardly anyone was there, and it was quite an overcast day.
But we had fun, nonetheless.

Millie loves/loved it.
I didn't even have time to put her swimsuit on she was so anxious to dig in.
We bagged the suit because she was covered from head to toe in sand.

She took a little snooze while Cason and I relaxed and enjoyed the small waves rolling in.

We're heading to Olive Garden (random. All you can eat pasta, salad and breadsticks!) tonight,
and we'll be watching the BYU game tomorrow night!

Have a great weekend!

Labor Day

On Labor Day this year, Cason really wanted to go golfing.
So Millie and I decided to tag a long.

Millie and I drove the cart around from hole to hole.

Millie loved to play with the golf balls.
They were just her size.

She got a little bored, so we put her in the cart basket.
She loved it, and played in there for majority of the time.

Watching Dad play...

While we were on the course, we saw some geese.
So, naturally Cason and Millie chased them.
She loved it!

We finished our day off with a yummy BBQ at a friends,
and homemade raspberry ice cream at home.

It was a nice day without much laboring!

Happy Weekend

Is this thing still on?

We're still here and are excited for the weekend.
We loved this short week.
Can't wait to spend some time together as a family.
Cason's been crazy busy with work, so it'll be nice to enjoy a little time with him.
Millie sure misses him! (as do I!)

This little peanut is sick sick sick.
Sick fever like I've never felt before.
Poor girl.
Sick babies are no fun, except they do love to snuggle any chance they get!
I LOVE it!
Especially with this girl.
She's been sleeping like crazy today.
I love this little one!

Have a great weekend!
We'll be nursing Millie back to health and hopefully attending a football game.

Little Corner

In our family room, there is a little corner.

All of Millie's toys are stored in that little corner.  So naturally that is where we hang out most of the day.

This corner is where she reads, plays with dollies, pretends to talk on the phone, pulls things out of her "toy box", and makes big messes.

This corner is always a mess.  The only time it's not a mess is when Millie is asleep.

One day we'll have a toy room to store all these goods.  But right now, this is her little happy place and I don't mind it one bit, because messes are ok...even with crazy hair!

One Year

I am finally getting around to posting Millie's official one year update.

Boy has time flown!  I (and Cason) have loved every second with Millie.  Yes, sometimes we get bored...but there's nothing else I'd rather be doing than being a mom and staying home with my baby.  She has taught me so much in this last year, and I am a better person because of her. (and Cason too)

Millie is quite the feisty one (she might get that from her mom...).  Even the doctor said something at her one year check up.  She didn't want him looking at her teeth, so she turned her head away really hard.  Nothing wrong with that right?!  haha.

She climbs the stairs pretty quickly and then sits at the top until we "notice".  Then she giggles as she looks down at us.  She can't quite get down, but hasn't really attempted yet.  She'll go down with my help behind her.

She loves to read books, but gets sick of it pretty quickly and just wants to turn the pages by herself.  She also loves music.  Any music she hears she will do a little dance.  Love it.

She says 'uh ay!' (uh oh!) and will try to copy things we say, but it doesn't sound anything like what we say.  She is trying to talk and still jabbers away.

She likes doggies and loves to go on walks to see if we can find doggies.  She likes kitty cats too, and tries to pull their long tails while giggling.  It is quite funny!

She knows where her "beep" (bellybutton) is, her piggy toes, and sometimes her tongue and eyes.  She can point out other peoples eyes, noses and ears, but not really her own yet.  She loves butterfly kisses, and will hold really still when we give them to her.

Loves the bath.  There was a time where she didn't love it and didn't hate it, but she loves it again.  She could spend all day in there.  It's a fun event for us!  :)  She also loves the drinking fountain at church. She'll spot it from a mile away and start getting excited.  Sometimes I forget and wonder why she is so excited and then realize as we get closer.  She loves to drink out of it, and sometimes play with the water.

Loves the swings...she will spot them as we approach them and get excited and giggle.  It is the cutest thing!

She isn't walking quite yet.  She'll take five steps and then gets scared because she looses her balance a little and falls.  She would much rather crawl.  She has discovered that she can fit in, under, on top of, and go through everything.  She tries to squeeze through little cracks and crawls under the bed but sometimes gets stuck.

She loves to get into things and make messes.  She'll pull anything out of drawers, cupboards, and closets.  She attempts at putting them back, but isn't quite successful yet.  Her favorite is the ziploc baggie drawer.  She opens it, and pulls each baggie out of the box.  It makes quite a mess, but she enjoys it and tries to do it as fast as she can before we catch her.

She does not like cold milk in a sippy cup.  Only warm milk in a bottle.  I think it's a comfort thing.  We are trying to ween her from bottles-we're down to about one to two a day.  She still likes her pacifier and loves her blanket.

She knows who Jesus is.  We have a picture of Jesus hanging in our home, and every time we say, "Millie, where's Jesus?"  She gets the biggest smile on her face and finds him.  She stares at him with a big grin, every time, and sometimes will give him kisses.  Melts our hearts!

We love our sweet little Millie girl and have really enjoyed watching her grow and progress.  Even though she is technically a toddler now (sad), she will always be our little baby!
