Mud Run

This last weekend Cason and a few Ernst and Young coworkers did the Mud Run at Camp Pendleton.
They had so much fun and got really muddy!

His team of five, pre race all clean and fresh

on your marks...get set...

GO!!
There were some people who were dressed up as you can see...
some should've worn more clothes too.

Adrienne and me as the onlookers.

Nice and clean!

The team running in to cross the finish-line.

6 miles later...

All clean!

Who is in for next year??  It looked so fun!  And they did such a great job!
Way to go!

Weddings and Triathlons

We spent another weekend in Utah...we just couldn't get enough of it so we had to go back!

One of my friends from college got married on Friday, so we went to the wedding.. she looked beautiful and I am so glad Cason and I were able to be there!

Andrew and Sutton Jensen

Erin, Sutton and Me
(we haven't seen each other for a few years, so I was so glad I was able to go!)

On Friday night Cason and I went and spent the night at a hotel with Tony (brother in law)
in Ogden. We ate dinner at an Italian restaurant to get that last carbo load in.
The boys were ready for their triathlon the next day.

We all woke up bright an early to go set up for the big race.
(excuse the blurriness)

After the setup they prepped their bodies for the swim.

First triathlon for Case

Eighth for Tony

..and they were off! It looked like a bunch of carp at Lake Powell!

After the swim, they set off on their bikes.

Then the run!

A job well done boys!!
Cason finished in just under 3 hours and Tony finished in 2 hours 20 minutes.
Pretty good eh!?

I was/am real proud of them!!

The weather was perfect,
and the trees were so pretty!
I sure do miss that autumn air and those colorful trees.

Again, it was a short but sweet weekend!
Congratulations Sutton and Andrew...
and Tony and Cason!

Cycle 911

Last week I decided I wanted to try a new workout regime. Ever since the half marathon, I have only been running outside once. I don't love it like I used to. Maybe I'm just burnt out.

I went to the gym one night after work and went to a cycle class. I was a few minutes late, because I couldn't find the place. I walk into the class, and the only bike left was in the front, RIGHT in front of the teacher. Great! This was my second time going to a cycle class, and I guess I forgot just how hard they are. I get on the bike and start pedaling doing exactly what the teacher is doing...she pedals faster.

"now SPRRRRINNNT!!!!! FOR THE LAST FEW MINUTES!! FASTER! FASTER!!!" she screamed into the mic.

I did just that and my feet flew out of the pedals! (I guess the pedals are supposed to have bands so that you can lock your feet in. mine didn't. of course!) I put my feet back on the pedals and tried to keep up with the teacher. That wasn't the end! My feet flew out maybe three or four more times. Embarrassing!! I was sweating like a dog, and felt like I had been working out for an hour. I looked at the clock...nope!! 5 minutes!! What??? I almost got up and walked out.

The teacher was about as thin as a toothpick, no joke! Why are all instructors so thin? The majority of all classes are not that size, so why do they have the instructor be that size? It's not normal.

I stuck with it and finished the class. Although it was a great workout I don't think I'll ever be back!! (at least not for a few years.)

Who does this class?? My friend's always went to that class throughout high school and college...I never understood why, and I still don't understand why! Not fun at all!!!

I think I'll stick with running.

half marathon/5k

On Memorial Day Cason ran a 5k and I ran a half marathon. Cason's race was really spur of the moment, but I had known about mine for a few months...and what did I do?? Procrastinate!!

I thought I would be ok, but boy was I wrong! My hips and knees were killing me! While I was running I kept asking myself, "why am I doing this again? They should be paying me to run this race!" It was very hard, because
1- We had just gotten back from San Francisco, and
2-I was having some stomach problems...if you know what I mean.
3-I forgot mine and Cason's workout shoes in San Fran, so we didn't work out at all the week before. And the whole eating thing...not the healthiest of foods were inhaled that whole week before.
But hey, at least I/we finished!! (I don't think Cason struggled as much as me)

Good morning!! Bright and early ready to run!
A few girls I run with decided to do it last minute too!

Just about done! I was a ways behind the girls...that's why I'm alone.

Cason and Tony after their race. They did pretty good for just signing up the morning of!!
