...decorating for the holidays...

On Black Friday, Beth (mother in law), Chelsea (sister in law), Lizzy (Chelsea's sister in law) and I decided to make the most of it. We went to the outlets in San Diego to do a little Christmas shopping and also to find decorations for the holidays.

Today Cason and I decided we want to put up our tree and put the ornaments to good use. Cason made his way over to Home Depot and found the perfect tree.

I love Christmas! It was so much fun to decorate the tree and put our lovely ornaments in the right places. It makes our room a little more cozy. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving break!! We sure did!

...home sweet little home...

From returning things, to finding the right nails, to deciding which ottomans look the best...we are finally almost finished decorating our new little apartment! Take a look! (there are still some things that need adjusting and adding to, but you get the idea.)

(we bought that dresser from IKEA. (If we had to do it again, we think we'd pay the extra $100 to not have to put it together ourselves.)

So there is our home!!

...utah & fishin'...

A week ago Cason was able to go fishing with his dad in Redding, California. The fish swam more than 100 miles from the ocean to the part of the river where they fished. They caught some pretty big ones and were really excited about their trip!

My handsome husband

Here is Dave with a 31.5 inch steel head. It was the longest steel head he has ever caught!!

While they were fishing, I visited my family in Utah. We went to lunch...

saw this big boy...
(and if this face doesn't make you want little kids, I don't know what does!)

saw this other little boy...
(and also, if this boy doesn't make you want babies, I don't know what else does!)

This is one of my favorite things to do!!

and I also got to hang out with my sisters and mom...
(not all of them are pictured)

Watched the BYU game with my dad, brothers, and grandpa, and got to see some of my friends while I was in town. It's been a long time since I've seen them, so it was good to catch up!!

Thanks for entertaining me while I was in town! Now family, it's time to come visit us! :)

Halloween Visitors

This past weekend my sister Sarah and her husband Jeff decided to be our first visitors!! We were so excited to see them! We went to the Spectrum, ate dinner at Cheesecake Factory, shopped around and ate Golden Spoon.

Then on Saturday night we were feeling festive so we carved pumpkins and made caramel apples.

It was such a fun weekend and I am so glad Sarah and Jeff came to visit us!! Who's next to come visit??

Seasons

Spring is when all the flowers start to bloom, the grass turns green, the trees start budding, the sky turns blue, the sun comes out, birds start chirping and sprinklers start rolling, shorts begin to appear on white pastey legs, and swimsuit shopping starts.

Summer rolls around and the sun is hot, tans and burns show, the smell of hamburgers fill the air, lemonade stands come into sight, chlorine smell never leaves, and lazy days are present.

Fall begins and school starts, the closets fill with jackets, jeans and long sleeves, summer tans hibernate until next year, the leaves start changing and falling, the air turns crisp and there is a chill that fills the air. The holiday season is just around the corner, colds creep in, and the parks become more empty. Pumpkins start to appear on door steps, and decorations become visible.

This time of year is when delicious recipes begin! Pumpkin flavors desserts, hot chocolate is sipped and everything is so tasty around this time of year. A few of my favorite things that I enjoy in these few months are:

Cheesecake Factory's Pumpkin Cheesecake
(you have got to try it!)

Homemade Artichoke Dip, hot chocolate,
and caramel apples.

Oh how I love this time of year!

(ps I know I didn't say anything about winter. That will have to come another day.)
