Bitter/Sweet

Film photography is a bitter/sweet thing.

It is so fun not knowing what your pictures are going to turn out like until you develop them, but then again, it can be tough. You don't know if the lighting is the best or if you should change something like you can with a digital camera.

I love developing my own images, because if you don't like how dark a part of an image is you can lighten it up! But if there is a pole in an image, you can't just photoshop it out. You have to live with it.

Which can be frustrating.

For my last film photography assignment we were assigned to take some portraits of a person. I had such a hard time trying to figure out what to do and who to photograph for this project.

A t the very last minute, the day the assignment was due, I asked one of my girlfriends from my ward if she would be my model. She is 31 weeks pregnant, tiny and gorgeous so it wasn't hard to photograph her.

She was such a good sport! We took these around 7:30am, in freezing water and she was happy to do it! Thanks again Erin!

(I had the negatives copied onto a disc at Target. I don't have a scanner, so I can't scan the originals. So they aren't the best quality, but I wanted to share.)

GT 2009

Last week a few of my girlfriends and I flew out to Florida for a friends reunion.
We stayed at this lovely house right on the ocean. It was beautiful!

My flight came in earlier on Wednesday, so Katie and I just hung out until the rest of the girls arrived.
We picked up the girls in this blue beauty, and that's what we drove around the majority of the trip!

It was actually quite fun!
Six girls in a six seater with no AC, windows rolled down, hair blowing in the wind...
It felt quite nice.

On Thursday, we jet skied, laid by the pool and chatted.

From L to R: Rebbie, Annie, Katie, Heather, Me (missing Jess)

Hanging out on the beach waiting for our names to be called for dinner.

the rest of the week we stayed at a beach house a few hours away...the weather was great!
A little breezy, hot and sunny!
And the sand was like powdered sugar.

We ate cinnamon french toast and omelets on the pier...

made and devoured pizookies...
played Flying Snoopy Ace of Spades and laughed our heads off...

and pretty much relaxed on the beach the whole time...

except for the last day!
Heather accidently scheduled her flight on the wrong day, so we were on our way to the airport so she could catch her flight
and on our way there the truck starting making weird noises and smelling a little weird.
Right when we got there the truck stopped working and we coasted in to drop Heather off.
The truck had a broken radiator, no coolant, and was a little rusty.
With a little help from my Dad and few guys that worked there, we were able to start it up again.

We made it on the freeway going 45 mph, then the truck slowly died on us again.
Immediately two tow trucks and a taxi stopped and asked if we needed help.

We were waiting on AAA, so the taxi driver told us he would wait until they came.
It was a little weird,
but after a few hours AAA finally came, and the taxi man took us home.

All in all we had a blast!! Thanks girls for such a fun week!
You're great!
