And I'm sure most of you do too.
Fruit, and "greens" just don't go to me. (except for in salads)
But, I have to say that I made myself a "green" smoothie today and it was phenomenal!
Here's the recipe:
1 whole banana
1 1/2 cups spinach (or just a big handful)
1 cup ice*
yogurt
1/2 cup orange juice*
1 cup water*
and any other fruit you have (I added a tangerine...because that's all I had. But blueberries, grapes, strawberries, pretty much anything would be good.)
*approximately
blend it all together and voila you've got yourself a delicious "green" smoothie.
And it's good for you too!!
Enjoy.
What are your favorite "Green" smoothie recipes? I would love to try some!
Hi Marie! I'm happy that you didn't let your first impression stop you from trying green smoothies. They have been the best way to get my baby to get lots of raw veggies in her diet. It seems that until they have all their teeth it's too hard to chomp on fresh veggies. I love putting pineapple or pineapple juice and some coconut milk (not cream of coconut) in to make it a little more "tropical". I buy the big bag of berries at Costco and use those. My smoothies are purple instead of green. My husband will even drink these which is a plus:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe! I must try these!
ReplyDeleteYou are the second person who has blogged about this green smoothie phenomenon. I guess I must try it!
ReplyDeleteI'm like you when I hear green smoothie i get a little grossed out. haha. I'll let you know how it goes :)

ReplyDelete@alia-yes, it was with my new lens. I'm loving it! So glad I got it!
How funny...I was so into these for a while and then kind of forgot about them...then just the past 2 mornings I've started making them again for breakfast! :) We must be on the same wavelength.
ReplyDeleteThis is our favorite combination:
a cup or so of pineapple orange banana juice
a big handful or 2 of fresh spinach
a banana
a handful of frozen mixed berries,
and half an avocado
YUM. :)
So yummy! We have been addicted (carson included) to green smoothies the last little while! Pineapple is SUPER yummy in it, and I add a little milled flax seed for some extra fiber. For a natural sweetener I use agave. Let me know if you come across any new ideas :)
ReplyDeleteThanks also for asking about my mom. You are so sweet to think of us and we have been so blessed by everyones faith and prayers. I hope you are doing well!!
