Easter Sunday

It was a great sabbath day filled with the spirit.  I spoke in church about the last week of Christ's life.  I really enjoyed studying more about it and coming to know my savior a little better.  It was a very touching sacrament meeting for me, and I enjoyed testifying that He is the Christ, the Son of the Living God and that He is our Savior.  How grateful I am for Him!

This Easter was a first for Millie.  She loved her Easter basket filled with treats, the DVD Tangeled, and eating all the paper grass inside.  (yes I gave her an Easter basket)

We had some friends from our ward over for Easter dinner.  We enjoyed a spiral ham, rolls, a salad, and cheesy potatoes, and tres leches cake for dessert.  It was a great meal!  And it was fun to get together with some friends since our families are so far away.  We missed them this Easter, that's for sure!

Love that little face

She is one happy girl!

I hope you enjoyed your Easter Sunday and were reminded of Christ and all that he did for us.

Recipe: Chicken Tortilla Soup

It's still cold in our town so I made soup the other night for dinner.  This has been a family favorite for some time now.  It is hearty and delicious!

Chicken Tortilla Soup

3-4 chicken breasts
1 onion, diced
1/3 envelope taco seasoning
4 cups water
2-3 cubes chicken bouillon
2 cans mexican seasoned tomatoes
1 can regular diced tomatoes
1-2 small can green chilies
1/2 cup salsa
1 16 oz bag frozen petite corn
1/2 bunch cilantro
1-2 cans black beans

Cook chicken.  (I usually either bake mine in the oven at 350 for 30 min, or fry it on the stove.  Stovetop is better)  Brown diced onion in pan with a little olive oil or butter.  In blender, mix tomatoes and cilantro.  Add to brown onions.  Add remaining ingredients.  Cut chicken into bite size pieces and add to soup mixture.  Let simmer on low for 30 min.  Serve with a dollop of sour cream.

Enjoy!

8 months old

Millie is now 8 months old!  She has grown up in a blink of an eye.  It's amazing!

She is growing growing growing.  And still, every night I pray that she will continue to grow.  Why do I do that?  I wish time would just freeze.

She loves to eat!  And she'll eat anything and everything...especially what mom and dad have.  She loves to drink out of a cup, and is actually pretty good at it.  She loves to hold and eat her own food like honey wheat pretzels, carrots, bananas, and anything she can grasp and suck/chew on.  She is trying and trying to get that pincer grasp down.  She can't quite pick up Cheerios with those little fingers, but she is getting close.

She wants so badly to be able to get around and be mobile.  And sometimes I wish she would be too!  (I know I will regret saying that.)  She still does not like her tummy.  She can stand it for a few minutes, but when she's sick of being on her tummy, she'll let you know she doesn't like it.  She wants to crawl, but doesn't quite get it yet.  (any tips? I know it will happen when it happens but...)  She is getting pretty good at standing up on things, but doesn't quite get the concept that if she lets go, she will fall down.  She can pull herself up while we hold her hands or if she has something to grasp onto.

She has the sweetest hair that is growing long.  She has a very big cowlick in the front center of her head, just like her mama.  Sometimes it's difficult to work with, but hopefully it's not as pronounced when she grows a little more.

She would rather be sitting up than anything.  She has started to dance when music comes on.  When she is sitting, she will do this cute little scoot on her bum.  And she gets very excited when we sing fun songs and listen to music.  Sometimes she will sing along!

She loves to look at herself in the mirror.  She tries to grab things through the mirror all the time.  It's quite entertaining to watch.  She is a busy busy girl.  She is into everything, and grabs and wants EVERYTHING!  Especially the things she's not allowed to have.

She enjoys reading books, and loves to turn the pages with a little help.  Anytime she is sad or not in the best mood, just open a book and she will cheer up in no time.  She loves to look at pictures, especially pictures of animals and she loves to hear the sounds they make.

She makes lots of noises and jabbers all day long.  She does this cute little girly squeal (she doesn't scream much anymore) that I absolutely love.  When she smiles she scrunches her nose and squints her eyes.  It is the funniest/cutest thing.

She loves her blankie and her pacifier.  She loves to be snuggled with both right before bedtime.

She is the sweetest thing and we love our little Millie girl.  We continue to enjoy watching her every move.

The Sideways Look

Like most babies, Millie is very observant.
When she is looking at something, particularly a person, she does this cute little side head look.
And sometimes she'll do a furrowed brow with it.
It's almost as if she is studying the person (or thing) she is looking at.

It is quite funny.
Especially when she does it to a stranger who is giving her too much attention.
or in the mirror at herself.

(excuse these pictures.  Majority are from my cell phone or the shutter speed on my camera was off.)

Park Day

Today was a whopping 47 degrees outside...which means no coats, gloves, scarves, hats or boots on our feet.
We headed to the park to enjoy this warm chilly sunshine.
It was a beautiful day!

Millie really loved the swing and she enjoyed watching all the kids play.  And they all loved her!
Just about every one of them came over to give her a few pushes.
She was loving it!

She thinks she is sooo big.

ah those little chubby fingers.  I love that tight grip.

She's getting too big too fast.  And yes, I might be pushing that because I did position her this way.
But the fact that she can stand while holding onto something by herself...amazing!!
Sad, yet so exciting!

I am in love!
