A Pirates Life

Thank you so much for the comments on the space saver and highchair post.  Cason and I read them together and the feedback was very helpful!!

Oh what would a pirates life be like?

Just ask Millie.  She knows!

On Friday, I remembered that I need to get back into the habit of patching Millie's eye.

I absolutely hate doing it.
(and hate is a strong word)

I have only done it one other time since we've lived here.
And I'm supposed to do it everyday.
It is pure torture for the both of us.
But it has to be done to make her weak eye stronger.

So...I opened that patch up.  And started to cover her eye.
She reached and grabbed and pulled at my hands.
She didn't want it.
Well, she wanted it, but not on her eye.
Usually she fusses and cries until the patch comes off.

Not this time!

The first ten minutes passed...not a single tear.

And the next ten minutes...nothing.

Then the next ten minutes...a few whines here and there, but nothing like when I've patched her eye before.

Maybe, it's the remote control that distracted her.  She is in love with that thing.

   

   

   

And then the patch came off.

I couldn't believe how well those 30 minutes went.
She must not mind the experience of a pirates life.
Either that, or she doesn't quite know how to pull it off yet.

It was a successful patching session, and because of it,
I won't be so hesitant the next time I remember.

Which will hopefully be today.

Space Saver or Highchair

All you moms out there, I need some help.  

We are ready to retire the Bumbo, and are now looking for a highchair. 

Which do you prefer or recommend?

Just a normal high chair or a space saver that sits on one of your kitchen chairs?

St Patrick's Day: Green Dinner

More people here celebrate St. Patrick's Day than in any of the three states I've lived in.  People get work off Thursday and Friday, go to bars at 7 am Thursday, watch basketball and drink their lives away till the wee hours of the morning on Friday.  Sounds fun right?!  Not so much.

We like to celebrate St. Patrick's Day a little differently.  In a way that we will remember it.  As many of you know, growing up, my mom always made an amazing green dinner.  So I brought that tradition to our family and started being a fun mom this year. :)

We enjoyed shamrock sliders on homemade green rolls, lucky jello, irish 7 layer dip with green sour cream, leprechaun chips, green ice cubes, Stewart's key lime fountain classics, and clover cinnamon rolls for dessert.  And Millie ate green peas, potatoes, and a few nibbles of a green cinnamon roll for dessert.

Pizza & Ice Cream

These past few days I felt like I got hit by a semi.  Millie had a fever Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and I caught something yucky that I've had the past four days and counting, and Cason was sick a couple weeks ago.  Hopefully we are on the upward mend and slowly passing this bug!  It is not welcome again in our home.  I do have to say, it is very hard to be a mom and a wife while sick.  Thank goodness for Yo Gabba Gabba, Baby Einstein's and the biggest help of all, my dear husband!

On Friday night, before we were bedridden, we decided to venture out on the town.  We enjoyed a free large three topping pizza at our local Peppinos.

Then finished it off with chocolate vanilla custard mixed with Reeses at Custard by the Dam.  Heavenly!

Isn't this the cutest custard shop?  Hot pink walls and checkerboard flooring...fun!

 

My poor baby girl...getting sicker by the hour.  It's so sad to see your baby sick and so helpless.  Lots of cuddling time!

It was a fun, delicious date night with just our little family.

Happy 7 months to my favorite girl!

I decided to give her a new look today without the curl in her hair...I don't know how I feel about it.  Kinda makes me sad.  The curl is just so Millie.  I kinda think she looks too old without the curl...and painted toes!

UH-maze-ING!!

First off let me just say I have two amazing sisters...

Why?  You might ask.

Well, today I opened the mailbox to find two large packages addressed to ME.

Getting the mail is probably one of the most exciting moments of my day. (is that sad?)
I love to open and read the mail.

But that's beside the point.

I immediately tore open those boxes and found these babies!



So what?  You might say.  Well...they don't sell chocolate covered cinnamon bears here in my town.
And they are heaven!!  I've been craving them ever since we moved here.

I hinted to my mom and one sister that I really wanted some cccb's, but they never arrived, so I turned to facebook to see who would do me the favor...Those two sisters must've read my status.

One sister texted me and said, "hey, what's your address?  I'm updating my address book in my phone."  I fell for it and gave it to her.  Little did I know what she really needed my address for.

Oh, I love my sisters!! (this isn't the only reason I love them.)

If you're wondering what is on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner this week for me...

Chocolate covered cinnamon bears and cadbury eggs.  Nom nom nom!
